Can we say OVERDUE...

So it seems as though I fell off the face of the earth for a while there. I just never had time to get on here and make any changes. A lot has happened since I last "blogged".

I went to Commissioned Officer Training at Maxwell AFB from 10 Mar - 10 Apr. In hindsight, I had a great time. While I was there, I was just ready to get the hell out of Maxwell. I had a great Flt/CC and Echo Flt was awesome. I met some really cool people, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

I am now assigned to Hurlburt Field, FL. I am in the 1 SOAMDS, Public Health Flight. I am the other officer, and for a while I was the other Lt. Being a Lt sucks. It doesn't matter if you are a butterbar or a 1Lt, it just plain sucks. I can't wait to pin on Capt, but that's not for close to two years, so I'll just have to suck it up for now. At least my supervisor JUST pinned on Capt so he knows what it's like to be the Lt- the very low man on the "O" totem pole. I'm learning as I go, both PH and Military rules and regs/customs and courtesies. It'll come with time. I'm a quick learner, and I like to get things right.

Anthony is almost done with his deployment!!!!!!!! YAY! I am soo excited. 6 months feels like forever, especially when my whole life has changed in the course of those 4+ months he's been in Al Udeid. I definitely could have used his help, but this is a testament of my strength as a mom and a woman. I'm pretty damn proud of myself for doing a lot of this on my own. But truthfully, no matter how far away he is, I always have his love and support and that of my friends and family as well. So I consider myself blessed.

Before I left for COT, Anthony and I were talking about finally having our wedding. But now I think we are going to put that on hold. After the New Year, we are going to try for Baby Bradford #2. Yes, even despite this horrible time we all know as the terrible two's, we still want to expand our family. I'm sure it won't take long, but regardless we'll just put it in God's hands, and have faith that we'll get pregnant when the time is right. This will work best for us. Aidyn would be three before we had baby #2 and hopefully potty train(ing or ed) by then. I'd be pinning on Capt in the spring of 2011, and I'll be hitting my 2 year mark at Hurlburt for my eligibility to PCS. And I'd definitely rather have baby #2 before I'm 30 and before we PCS overseas (fingers crossed).

Ok, so that's all the updates for now.

Bradford Wedding

Okay this is the best way I know that we can do some planning this many miles away. So to Crystal and Kimmie, comment back on here. Tell Monique to come check my blog. And Patricia, I am sending you the link to your KBR email.

So, we are going to finally have a wedding. We will actually have the time, the means, and be living right where we spent our first few days as husband and wife... so, it's about time we went ahead and made it happen.

We always talked about having our wedding on the beach. A church is very traditional, and we wanted something different. Plus nothing beats standing on that white sand next to that beautiful water (well, maybe if it were Puerto Rico, Hawaii or something like that). Anyway, I looked around for places and there are a lot of little beach wedding companies that do weddings. But I wanted something special. We may be married, but I want it to be something I'll always remember. So I just happened upon the Sandestin Resort website. They do everything there. It is a resort community. There are numerous different condo's, villas, etc to stay in, places to dine, swim, golf... whatever you want. And if all else fails, the beach is steps away. Then I started looking at what they offer for weddings. All I can say is WOW!

As for the venue's, I like: The Bayview Room and Terrace, the Beach, Finz Restaurant and Loft and the Grand Lawn.

There is info regarding almost everything on there. Of course I will have to call and find out more, especially how much, but it just looks perfect. Now, what I am also thinking is that if I do book a wedding with them that they might be willing to offer some discounted rates on accomidations for wedding party/guests. I figure that if you are all coming to Destin, you might as well make a little mini-vacation out of it, AND it won't be until June-July 2010.

Our anniversary is September 15th, but by then the water starts getting choppy, there are numerous sea slugs in water and school is well under way. So I thought that we'd have our wedding ceremony in June or July that way it's perfect time for everyone to get away for a little summer vacation and then all of the kids will be on summer break, and by that time, even Chloe, Caitlyn and Rylen will be able to enjoy the beaches.

So, click on the links I provided. Tell me what you think.

I've been tagged....

The rules are:

Pick the 4th photo from the 4th folder of photos and then in turn tag 4 others to do the same.

This is my baby... in my belly. Awe, I remember that day too. From the date on this 4-D ultrasound (2/21/07) it's almost been two years. Lord, time flies. I can't believe Aidyn is going to be 2 in May!

As for tags... well, Kim and Crystal already did this, and I don't think my brother gets on Blogger much so... repost if you want to!

Some very belated updates!!!

Well I finally received notification that I had been selected as a PHO on December 4, 2008. All I have to say is they sure took their sweet ass time. As for assignments, well they weren't exactly what I had hoped for.

Base Assignment: Hurlburt Field, FL
COT Assignment: 09COT03 March 10- April 10

My initial thought was to decline the orders to Hurlburt Field. The closet place on my dream sheet to HF was Patrick AFB, FL in Cocoa Beach. But as for the rest:

McChord AFB, WA
Travis AFB, CA
Colorado (Petersen, USAFA...)
Patrick AFB, FL

Hickam AFB, HI
Aviano AB, Italy
Andersen AB, Guam
Germany
England

But after talking to Anthony and a few other people I decided to accept my orders to Hurlburt Field. Although, the general consensus was: "how the hell did you (meaning I) get orders to there when you had Travis on you dream sheet?" I don't know.

I am bummed about the March COT date, we were really shooting for January. And there were other people who applied the same time I did and got the January class. But I guess it happens for a reason. So I'll not complain and just be glad that I was picked in the first place.

I commissioned on January 12th at the Keesler Medical Center Emergency Room. Well, actually it was in the ambulance bay. Dr. Oliver Mayorga commissioned me. He also did Anthony's re-enlistment; kinda cool, huh. It took all of 5 minutes. I just had to sign a bunch of papers I've already signed, and that was it. Now we are waiting on orders. My new recruiter said he should get a copy via email in 2-3 weeks and he would send me a copy to my email. And in case you were wondering, my old recruiter went back to his old AFSC (job) and PCS'd (permanent change of station) to Nellis AFB, NV aka freakin' Las Vegas. So, I now have a new recruiter.

Anthony deployed on January 16th to Al Udeid, Qatar. It sucks not having him here. It's funny how you don't know how much you'll miss someone until they are gone. I hope these six months go by quickly. I'll have a lot to do once March rolls around, it's just the time between now and then that will seem to drag. He is on nights over there, so that means we are awake at the same time. It is a nine hour difference. He get's to make morale phone calls and can obviously send emails as well. He works 6 days and has 1 day off, so he probably wont make too many trips off base. I told him to take pics if/when he does go off base.

So I suppose that's about it for now... even if there were more to write, Aidyn is awake and I can hear him whining in his room.

Still Waiting...

My recruiter called Wednesday just to update me. He says my packet should be on the "big guy's" desk within a few days. If there's nothing in the system by mid-next week regarding the status of my application, he'll call the "big guy" again and see what's what.

I AM SO FREAKIN NERVOUS! I swear I will have stomach ulcers after all this worrying. I guess part of what will take the longest is working out assignments- that is provided I am selected. That will cause a little delay in official notification. However, my recruiter promises that he will let me know before then, as soon as he hears something.

Keep your fingers crossed for me!!

The Sepeda Wedding

So I went to Ft. Worth (WOOO-HOOO back home in TEXAS) this past weekend for one of my best friends weddings. She and her husband have already been married for six years (another JP like me and my hubby), but she wanted to do it right finally and get married in a church. So I trucked it on over to New Orleans at 4 AM to catch my flight to Dallas Love Field at 630 AM. That drive sucked, and I late checked in my bags by THREE minutes thanks to the ridiculously long line at the luggage check in counter. The flight was uneventful, and my brother Galen picked me up at the airport. He is a sophomore at University of North Texas, so Denton is about an hour or so away from Love Field. Anyway, we go to claim my luggage and..... it's not there. It's on the 1145 flight from NO. So I get the pleasure of coming back to pick up my luggage after it arrives on that later flight.

Friday was spent mostly driving around trying to find an Olive Garden with Crystal and Monique, waiting on in-laws and getting feet and nails done at this really nice spa place at a mall in Ft. Worth. Descriptive, I know. That night Monique, Crystal and I went to City Streets and our Bachelorette Party was crashed by the Bachelor Party. I will say that the hubby to be (again) was mighty toasty by the time he rolled into the club. Anyway, we had fun. And 730 the next morning came WAAAAAAAAAAY too soon.

So Saturday we get up and drive on over to this beauty school... OGLE... to get our "hair did". LOL! Crystal (bride), Dawn (bridesmaid), Karolina (bridesmaid) and Celeste's (flower girl) hair looked great. I didn't get mine done, thank the Lord. But ahem, Monique's hair, well she would be the "poodle" that Crystal's mom was referring too. LOL, it was soo bad. So we went to JCP and had her hair redone into the Palin like chingnon. Although I will tell you that is not what I was thinking of when I suggested the hairstyle, but it was funny to see Karolina cringe when they mentioned it looked Sarah Palin's hairstyle.

We rushed back, threw on our dresses, squeezed our feet into those torture devices- ooops, I mean shoes, and rushed to the church. As Kim said, the wedding was short but sweet and the reception was a riot. I though Chris was going to strangle the DJ. I know we are from Seguin, but a little less tejano would've been ok. It was wonderful to see everybody, and I am so glad that we all managed to make it. It's a testament to how true your friends are when they will travel to come share with you one of your most special days.

I am blessed to have my group of best friends. I had a great time this weekend, and hopefully we can all get together a little more often. Easier said than done, I know....

Socialism... does this sound familiar?

Well, it is no secret whom I will be voting for, but I wanted to be objective about the whole presidential race. So as I was doing my 2 miles on the treadmill Wednesday night, I flipped over to CNN's coverage of the final Presidential Debat. Mind you, CNN should really be called "we broadcast nothing but the democratic POV on this here station".... (and yes FOXNEWS is up the GOP's you know what), but I ignored the clearly one sided reaction to the debate and waited patiently for them to replay the actual "main event".

So as I am running, I have a new goal btw, I listen to both sides of the debate. Yes, McCain is a terrible public speaker. He is old, cantankerous, and does not present himself very favorably. Yes Obama is a much better public speaker. He is young, likeable, and has a calm pleasant demeanor. But, the IMPORTANT thing is the issues... and here is where I take issue-no pun intended.

So here's some food for thought...

SOCIALISM:

Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating social or collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and the creation of an egalitarian society. Modern socialism originated in the late nineteenth-century working class political movement. Karl Marx posited that SOCIALISM would be achieved via class struggle and a proletarian revolution which represents the transitional stage between CAPITALISM and COMMUNISM.
Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism by nature concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital, and creates an unequal society.

CAPITALISM is usually considered to involve the right of individuals and corporations to trade, incorporate, employ workers, and use money provided by central banks, in goods, services (including finance), labor and land.

Just a question then: did we not fight wars to help overthrow communist governments????

The premise of an egalitarian nation sound great, but in practice is it at all practical? Would those that have worked very hard to get an education, and/or worked their way up in their respective career fields be willing to "share the wealth". Just a thought.
